Fishing Art Custom Lure Blanks - Review

A couple of seasons ago I was looking to get two new rods. One for targeting chub and another for trout on my local rivers. I was looking to get the rods custom built and was looking for quite specific feel and actions from these rods.

At this time lure-world advertised fishing art blanks. After looking at there website I was very impressed with the huge range of blanks they produced which covers so many applications and Developed with European/Scandinavian anglers in mind. The website provides detailed descriptions of all the blanks including tapers and actions and a diagram to illustrate the actions of the blanks within their ranges. This detailed description of the blanks proved very accurate and I ended up with exactly what I was hoping for.

All my rods are built by Dave Lumb of DLST, I had the blanks sent directly to Dave which was very helpfully sorted out by Artur of lure-world. I had the rods built with a traditional specification, I specified most aspects but asked Dave to select the guides as I was unsure about this. Dave produced two fantastic rods which surpassed my hopes, the rods are perfectly balanced and very sensitive. The blanks load brilliantly on the cast and allow for very long accurate casting. The hook setting and fish playing qualities of these blanks are also first class and I can only assume that a great deal of time and effort has gone into producing rods with such balanced attributes. I have now spent many hours using both these rods over the last 18 months.

I cannot fault these blanks in any way and can honestly say that these blanks built into rods by Dave Lumb are one of the best I have used. As I write this I am organising my next  rod built on a fishing art blank.
